6 Must-Have Items to Pack

Arrive at your photoshoot stress free with all of the essential items! These 6 items are life savers for every shoot…read on to see what they are!

Pack for success

1. SNACKS

Snacks are an essential item to bring to a photoshoot, perhaps the most important! Most people get the jitters and do not want to eat a big breakfast or lunch during a shoot day. We get it. BUT not having enough energy or nutrition during a shoot day will lead to lack luster expressions and energy on set.

We recommend eating a full and hearty breakfast. Don’t worry about looking bloated…it’s more important that you come with high energy! Shoots require lots of stamina, especially if this is your first rodeo. Posing for long hours is like doing an a very long yoga class. You will leave feeling tired and most likely sore the next day! To avoid feeling and looking hangery, do yourself a favor and pack some snacks to munch on throughout the shoot day. You’ll thank us later!

Some snack favorites include:

  • Bottled water

  • Lara Bars

  • Protein shake

  • Dried fruit

2. HYGIENE ITEMS

Now we will talk about most important part – hygiene! Always carry wipes with you. You’ll be surprised how often you need them! Wiping makeup from a shirt, cleaning off your shoes, the possibilities are endless.

According to my experience, for the gals I recommend dropping a razor in your purse. Sometimes underarms and legs get overlooked. The camera shows every detail, so having a razor on hand can avoid an unpleasant accident! For the guys, bring along a shaver. This allows you to tidy up your facial hair for any spots that need fine tuning for the camera.

Must have hygiene items:

  • Hair extensions (if you wear them)

  • Eye drops or contact solution

  • Travel size toothbrush or Wisps

  • Body oil (apply to your arms and legs for dewy glowing skin!)

  • Facial sheets

  • Clear deodorant (avoid unsightly deodorant stains!)

3. JACKETS + SHOES

Jackets are a great way to easily change up a look and add variety to your photoshoot. Shoes can make or break an outfit! Make sure you pack enough shoes to go with each of your looks. Variety is the spice of life! Bring a wide range of jackets and shoes to take your wardrobe to the next level. For shoes, we recommend nude and neutrals…you don’t want your shoes to “steal the show” and take the focus away from YOU!

  • Recommended jackets and shoes:

  • Leather jacket

  • Jean jacket

  • Form fitting cardigan (belted or wrap style)

  • Blazer

  • Nude heels

  • Black strap heels

  • Ankle boots

  • Wedges

4. UNDERGARMENTS

Undergarments are the foundation to every outfit! The key is making sure they aren’t visible and make your outfit look better, not worse! We aren’t talking about beautiful lingerie here. We are talking about skin toned underwear, strap and strapless bras, and shapewear. Use pieces at add support to your look and aren’t visible as you move and change poses for the camera.

Pro tip: try on each outfit with the appropriate underwear and do a visibility check. This prepares you to know what undergarments go with what outfit and exactly what to pack!

Undergarment staples:

  • Skin toned seamless underwear

  • Skin toned strap and strapless bras

  • Push up bras (if you need ‘em!)

  • Shapewear

5. SLIPPERS & ROBE

Two essentials that are often overlooked, your favorite robe and slippers! These items will help you stay warm and cozy for the makeup chair and in between set changes. The lower neckline of the robe is recommended for hair and makeup application, so our makeup artist can color match your makeup with your chest and neck area. Stay comfy and cozy all day - win win!

6. WARDROBE TRAVEL ESSENTIALS

Saved the best step for last! How to pack your wardrobe and bring our go-to items. We recommend having each clothing item on it’s own hanger and using a wardrobe bag for safe keeping. Avoid cramming in lots of pieces into one wardrobe bag, as this can cause wrinkles to the clothes. A wide wardrobe bag or multiple bags is best. Additionally, be sure to pack a lint roller and a tide stain remover pen for any shoot day accidents!

Travel essentials include:

  • Wardrobe bags

  • Lint roller

  • Stain remover pen
